St Louis, MO Headaches and Dizziness After Car Accident

Headache after Car Accident

After a car accident, it’s normal to experience headache. The headache can range from mild to severe. In some instances, the headache could disappear after taking some painkillers, but only with the recommendation of your medical doctor. In other instances, the headache could be a symptom of some severe injury suffered internally from the car wreck. Regardless of the nature of the headache, it’s important to know what to do about it.

Post-Traumatic Headaches

Headaches can be post-traumatic, especially when they begin immediately following a serious car accident. Such pain are often not only painful, but also debilitating. They might start immediately after an accident, or manifest a few hours and days after the car wreck. The headaches might be severe, even when the accident was not as bad. A low impact crash could give rise to a severe and debilitating headache.

Causes

When a driver, passenger or pedestrian suffers a blow to the head during the accident, this could result into a headache. Striking your head on the steering wheel, dashboard, window or other hard surface in the car could also cause the headaches to develop. The impact of the blow to the head could trigger post-traumatic headaches. When the accident causes your head or neck to whip back and forth violently, post-traumatic headaches tend to follow closely behind.
